Short biography:

The long-term goal of my lab is to understand to understand how complex chromatin structures are established and maintained in vivo. My graduate training was in biochemistry and molecular biology in the lab of Dr Tom Owen-Hughes at the University of Dundee in Scotland; my postdoctoral training was in yeast genetics and genomics in the lab of Dr Toshio Tsukiyama at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center in Seattle. I have been a group leader at Sloan Kettering Cancer Center for 10 years. My lab utilizes a range of biochemical, molecular biological, and genomics approaches. Currently we are investigating how DNA replication proceeds across eukaryotic genomes, how DNA replication and gene transcription intersect and how gene expression patterns may be maintained over generations. We use budding yeast and C. elegans as model systems.
