    This year Generic Skills Dundee ran its first Venture Programme to promote enterprise to research staff and students. Mhairi Towler, from the College of Life Sciences came a very close second in this recent competition with her Idea Development Plan: Scientific Animation in 3 Dimension for Communication - "Viva-mation".

    HRH The Princess Royal visited the College of Life Sciences as part of her visit to the University of Dundee on Tuesday April 19th, when she officially opened the new Centre for Molecular Medicine at the Clinical Research Centre, part of the University’s School of Medicine.

    Each year, the Anatomical Society makes several awards to support departmental seminars/symposia on any aspect of the anatomical sciences. This year the Centre for Anatomy and Human Identification (the School of Learning and Teaching, CLS) is the recipient of the Seminars Series Award. Roger Soames, Cox Professor of Anatomy was delighted at the news: “This award will give us the opportunity to showcase the quality and range of our anatomical teaching, which is led by some of the top researchers in the field, from which students at Dundee benefit.”

    As a direct result of the work undertaken by the Centre for Anatomy and Human Identification at the College of Life Sciences, Dundee, an RAF sergeant has been jailed for six years for sexually abusing a 14-year-old girl. Darren Holian, who was stationed at RAF Waddington at the time, filmed the incident and hid the movie-file on his computer. When the file was discovered four years later, Holian denied that he was the man on the film.
