The Wellcome Trust today announces the appointment of Professor Mike Ferguson, Dean of Research for the College of Life Sciences at the University of Dundee, to its Board of Governors. Professor Ferguson will take up his position in January 2012.

Professor Julian Blow, who works in the Centre for Gene Regulation and Expression at the University of Dundee College of Life Sciences, has been awarded a Wellcome Trust Senior Investigator Award. These highly prestigious grants are given by the Wellcome Trust to outstanding senior researchers who are judged to be studying the most important and challenging research questions in biomedicine.

Dedicated fundraiser, Matt Wallace, who gave up his job and his flat on his 30th birthday to embark upon an ambitious social media charity quest visited researchers at the Dundee Cancer Centre on Monday 24 October 2011. Matt Wallace has left behind his family and friends, his home and even his job, to walk the length and breadth of the country promoting the life-saving work which takes place at each of Cancer Research UK’s centres of excellence.
