Dundee’s quest for new treatments for neglected diseases to be explored at Café Science event The University of Dundee’s efforts to combat neglected tropical diseases in the developing world will be discussed at the next Café Science event to take place. Professor Alan Fairlamb of the University’s Drug Discovery Unit will outline the cutting-edge work being carried out in order to develop new medicines for diseases such as Leishmaniasis, Chagas Disease, and African Sleeping Sickness at Chambers Coffee House & Restaurant on Monday, 30th September.

Scott Haston, an Honours student in Dr Kim Dale's laboratory in the Division of Cell and Developmental Biology has received a commendation from the 2013 Undergraduate Awards for his essay entitled "The Role of Notch Signaling in Early Avian Embryo Progenitor Cell Fate Decisions".

Research from the Division of Plant Sciences features on the front cover of this week’s Science Magazine. The work reports the discovery of a previously unrecognized enzyme in the pathway that synthesizes lignin, a polymer in plant cell walls.
