The College of Life Sciences is supporting the opening event and the Women in Science Portrait Exhibition which features photographs of women who work across a range of science disciplines and who are at different stages in their careers. Artist Janice Aitken has created sensitive and engaging portraits of the women, whose dedication, hard work and love of their jobs make them excellent examples to young people considering a career in the sciences.
Included in the exhibition are three women working in Life Sciences at the College: Professors Tracy Palmer and Caroline Wilkinson, Dr. Victoria Cowling and Miss Elizabeth Dolan. CLS was able to support this project as part of its award for Excellence with Impact from the BBSRC.
A publication featuring photographs of the women and text from interviews by writer Zoe Venditozzi will also be available at the exhibition.
The portraits will be on display in the foyer of the Dalhousie Building and can be viewed at any time from 9am to 6pm, or later at our other events taking place in the Dalhousie Building, including the talk from Ineke De Moortle on 7th March, which is followed by a wine reception and chance to view the exhibition.
