On 11 October 2006 Linda Morris and Nick Brewer were awarded the Honorary Graduates' Award for Innovative Teaching. Linda and Nick redeveloped the chemistry course and received the award for "Making first year chemistry modules a foundation course for Life Sciences students".

The transformation of chemistry teaching at the University of Dundee has been recognised by the Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC), which has awarded Dr Linda Morris a prestigious Higher Education Teaching Award (25 May 2006). The RSC Higher Education Teaching Awards are made in recognition of outstanding teaching skills and/or development of innovative materials/methods in Higher Education.

Teaching in the Life Sciences has been given a boost with the release of a University Guide which named Biosciences and Anatomy as two subjects taught at the University of Dundee which have an extremely high national ranking. Biosciences, which includes biochemistry, sports biomedicine, biological sciences and physiology, was ranked 2nd of the 100 plus Universities in the UK, just behind Cambridge and beating Oxford into third place. Anatomy teaching in Dundee was ranked 6th best in the UK, top in Scotland for both disciplines.

Pete Rowell, Life Sciences Teaching Unit, collected on behalf of the School of Life Sciences a certificate from the Royal Society of Edinburgh at their Annual Awards Reception on 2 July 2002. The award is in recognition of our participation in the RSE Events for Young People.
