Protein X-ray Crystallography

High-resolution three-dimensional structures obtained from protein X-ray crystallography form the foundations of modern structural biology and drug design.  This information is used directly in ongoing drug design projects.  There are also facilities within the Division of Biological Chemistry and Drug Discovery for automated liquid dispensing for crystallization experiments and for automated crystal tray imaging.

The X-ray crystallography laboratory is located in the WTB / MSI interlink area.  The facility consists of two Rigaku rotating anode X-ray generators equipped with R-AXIS IV image plate detectors and X-Stream 2000 cryogenic systems.
