Postdoctoral Research Assistant (Imaging Living Tissue to Study Tumour Suppressor Protein)

A post is available in Professor Inke Näthke’s laboratory funded by Cancer Research UK to join a team studying the earliest changes in gut epithelium in colorectal cancer. Particular focus is on the function of the Adenomatous Polyposis Coli (APC) tumour suppressor protein starting June/July 2012. The project will utilise standard cell biology techniques and high-resolution imaging using a variety of cell and tissue-based systems. The general aim of work in the laboratory is to determine how the diverse functions of APC relate to its role in cancer and how these functions are co-ordinated and regulated.

The candidate should have a PhD and experience in cell imaging, quantitative image analysis and relevant statistics is required. Experience in general cell or developmental biology and molecular biology is advantageous. As the position involves a high level of interaction with colleagues in the team and the entire research complex, good interpersonal and communications skills are extremely important.

Informal enquiries should be made to Dr Inke Näthke (+ 44 1382 385821; e-mail: inke@lifescidundee.ac.uk).
