27 Jan 2016

PiCLS the Life Sciences Research Students' Association is delighted to announce that pioneering neuroscientist Professor Andrea Brand of the Gurdon Institute in Cambridge will be delivering the annual PiCLS Lecture.

Co-chair of the PiCLS committee Craig O'Hare said, "The speaker for the PiCLS lecture is chosen from nominations submitted by our research community; as a result previous speakers have been exemplar role models for postgraduate and postdoctoral researchers here in Dundee. Professor Andrea Brand is no different. As a leading neuroscientist she has performed pioneering research on the development of the nervous system, as well as transforming developmental biology with her work on the GAL4-UAS system. I am confident that Andrea will give a fantastic overview of not only her work but also the challenges that come with maintaining a good work life balance within a successful research career."

The annual PiCLS lecture will be delivered on 12 February at 3pm in the MSi Large Lceture Theatre and is followed by a  Wine Reception and the PiCLS Ceilidh at the Apex Hotel.
